Overview of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program

The Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office has a long history of supporting and assisting victims. Under the leadership of it’s first District Attorney, Robert F. Mumford, the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office became the first District Attorney’s Office to have a formalized Victim Witness Assistance Program.

The mission of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) of the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office is to pursue justice on your behalf and provide compassionate support as your case proceeds through the criminal justice system in Rockdale County. VWAP Advocates are trained professionals who work tirelessly to help victims, witnesses of crimes and their families to minimize the anxiety, fear and frustration often associated with the judicial process. To us, you are not just another statistic, but the cornerstone of what we do.

We feel that it is important for all victims and witnesses to have a basic understanding of the criminal justice system and their important rights and roles in the process. You are instrumental to holding the accused accountable for the crimes they commit. It is through your participation and cooperation that Rockdale County will be a safer place for us all.

Please contact our Victim-Witness Assistance Program Advocates with any questions, concerns, or need for assistance you may have. Our job is to help you!
