DIVISIONS
Investigations
The Investigations Division of the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office is comprised of a team of POST Certified investigators who are responsible for reviewing all traffic, misdemeanor and felony cases presented to the office from law enforcement agencies, citizens of the county, or private entities.
Juvenile Court
The Juvenile Court Division of the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes individuals under age 17 who are accused of committing a crime in Rockdale County.
The goal of the Juvenile Court is to protect both a child’s and the community’s best interest. In accordance with this goal, recommendations often include appropriate services for children and families who are in crisis to restore and redirect youth so they will become law-abiding citizens.

Magistrate Court
Assistant District Attorneys assigned to Magistrate Court are responsible for conducting a Committal Hearing before the Magistrate Court. Committal hearings are held to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to send the case over to a higher court for investigation and prosecution.
State Court
Under the State Court Division, Assistant District Attorneys prosecute misdemeanors ranging from suspended license to battery and DUIs to Homicide by Vehicle in the second degree. The attorneys handle all bond hearings, motions, arraignment, trials, and revocation of probation related to misdemeanor cases.
Superior Court
Under the Superior Court Division, Assistant District Attorneys prosecute felonies ranging from theft by shoplifting to armed robbery and murder. The attorneys handle bond hearings, motions, arraignment, trials, and revocation of probation.
Accountability Court
The Rockdale County Accountability Courts consist of judicially supervised court treatment programs, which include the DUI Court, Felony Drug Court, Resource Court and Juvenile DUI Court. The accountability courts are alternative sentencing programs designed for individuals whose criminal and addictive behavior has led them into the criminal justice system.
Assistant District Attorneys assigned to Accountability Courts determine if individuals meet the eligibility requirements to have their cases disposed through accountability courts.
Appellate
The Appellate Division is responsible for representing the State of Georgia when a defendant files a request before the Georgia Court of Appeals or Supreme Court challenging their conviction. Assistant District Attorney responds in writing via briefs to the appropriate appellate courts stating the State’s response to the challenge, The Appellate Division is also responsible for open records requests and record restriction requests.
